INTERLOK PACKAGING CHOOSES DGP AND MITSUBISIHI

Interlok Packaging chooses Mitsubishi forklifts and servicing from Douglas Gillespie Plant for dependable answers to its business needs.

When the UK’s leading manufacturer of solidboard divisions, Interlok Packaging, decided to source newforklift trucks after a recent management buyout, reliability was the keyrequirement.

To help in the search, Interlok consulted premier Scottish forklift dealership Douglas Gillespie Plant (DGP),who swiftly recommended the FG25N gas powered counterbalance truck from the Mitsubishi 'N series' – famed for its almost legendary reputation for dependability in almost any conditions."

Port Glasgow-based Interlokis completely reliant on forklifts for its business.  David Shearer, Finance Director at Interlok, explains:  “We tailor-make solidboard partitions for a range of high profile clients in the drinks, food and pharmaceutical industries.  The forklifts load our cutting machines with raw paper at one end, and unload precision-cut packagingat the other.  We rely utterly on the Mitsubishi forklifts and great servicing from DGP to keep us rolling.” 

Douglas Gillespie Plant’s Major Accounts Manager Ronnie Judge adds:  “Interlok wanted a forklift that would operate non-stop throughout 14 hour shifts, handling over 3,000 tons of rolled paper per year,working almost entirely indoors.  We recommended the lean burning LPG-powered Mitsubishi FG25N.  Its new generation engine has a sophisticated management system, delivering optimum performance and reliability with clean emissions.  It has quick-remove panels for easy-access servicing, so uptime is maximised.  And its compact design gives the added bonus of a tight turning circle to make the most of every inch of working space.” 

Ronnie Judge gives an illustrationof DGP’s versatile approach to customer relations:  “The Mitsubishi N series forklifts are highly adaptable, so we modified them to suit Interlok’s application.  One truck handles bulky rolls of paper, so we fitted a Cascade split arm paper roll clamp to handle different sized rolls. Once the packaging has been cut to Interlok’s specifications, the second FG25N stacks it for shipping, and removes all excess materials into a recycling container.  We fitted a triple mast with side shift to give the forklift the extra manoeuvrability these applications demand."
