The perfect combination When an independent dealer sings your praises, you know you must be good.
With almost 40 years’ experience in the forklift truck business, independent dealer Douglas Gillespie Plant can certainly recognise a good thing – and that's precisely why the company has now chosen to join forces with Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks.
DGP's Marketing Manager Tracey Gillespie is in no doubt that Mitsubishi forklifts complement the company's business perfectly: “We chose to take on the Mitsubishi dealership to give our customers access to some of the best trucks on the market. The world-renowned Mitsubishi brand stands for quality of engineering, and this will help open doors to new customers for us too. It means they will all benefit from market-leading forklifts and Douglas Gillespie Plant's superior local service and maintenance support – the perfect combination.”
Based at Darnley Industrial Estate, Glasgow, DGP prides itself on the unbiased advice it gives to customers, which ensures the best materials handling solution for every situation.
“We will continue to give unbiased advice,” says Tracey, “and by adding the fantastic range of Mitsubishi trucks to our portfolio we will be in an even better position to supply the best equipment for each application. As well as gaining direct access to Mitsubishi forklifts and parts in central Scotland, we will still be able to supply all types of materials handling equipment – including specialised flameproof forklifts, sideloaders and multi-directionals.”
After working with blue chip companies in London, Paris and California, Tracey has only recently joined her parents' firm – bringing with her a wealth of marketing and technological knowledge. Started by Douglas and Margaret Gillespie back in 1968 with just two employees and six forklifts, the business has grown to be Scotland's leading independent specialist supplier – with more than 30 staff and a forklift fleet of more than 500. Unusually in this day and age, DGP instils deep company loyalty in its staff – whose average service record of 16 years speaks for itself.
DGP's team of mobile service engineers operates throughout the central belt of Scotland, encompassing Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Grangemouth, Ayrshire, Stirling, Fife and beyond. The engineers provide 24/7 servicing to ensure maximum productivity for customers. The company also offers Thorough Examination testing and driver training.
Competitive finance packages for new or used equipment, and flexible contracts for long or short term hire, mean that a deal can always be tailored to meet the customer’s materials handling needs and budget.
Welcoming DGP to the Mitsubishi family of dealerships, Terry Foreman, General Manager of Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks UK, says: “The quality and reliability of Mitsubishi products brings an extra dimension to any business, and we choose our dealers carefully to make sure they have the right attitude to customer care and service. Douglas Gillespie Plant more than fits the bill, with its focus on independent advice, its attention to the individual needs of its clients, and its fleet of fully trained engineers ready to support customers across a large swathe of Scotland. We’re always delighted when a company as knowledgeable as DGP wants to join us and we expect to achieve great things together.”
